OVSD Reading Matters

Studies show that reading for 20 minutes daily positively impacts a child's success at school.
 

Students who read 20 minutes per day will have read 3,600 minutes (60 hours!) and almost 2,000,000 words in one year.

Daily reading supports:

  • phonics/decoding skills

  • vocabulary development

  • comprehension development
